Community Engagement Coordinator

(.5 FTP)

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Community Engagement Coordinator will:

  • Support the implementation of the strategic and fund development plans
  • Administer the grant program
  • Elevate the Foundation’s role and profile as a granting partner in the region

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Support the growth of high impact Field of Interest funds – elevating donors’ sights as to what is possible
  • Administer the grant program including:
    •  assist in grant review and awards,
    • monitor grants in progress, analyzing outcomes/impact,
    • handle inquiries from current and potential grantees, and
    • collect impact stories from beneficiaries
  • Provide grant making expertise, assistance, and training to grant committees
  • Recommend ways the Foundation can be better represented throughout the region, and address community needs specific to rural Central Alberta
  • Plan and implement community engagement and learning strategies through on-going collaboration that represents the diversity of the communities served by the Foundation
  • Develop innovative community partnerships and programming
  • Ensure that the Foundation is engaging equity seeking groups, whose voices and experience have been under-represented
  • Represent the Foundation at events hosted by grant recipients, funders, partners, collaborators, and other organizations as part of the Foundation’s engagement strategy to build meaningful relationships
  • Participate on relevant committees and collaborations with other funders, grantees, and decision makers to pursue collective impact and learning opportunities

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrable experience in administering and growing a grants program
  • Experience working within non-profit and public good sector, including professional associations, government agencies, Indigenous, philanthropic, and charitable organizations
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to consider and balance diverse viewpoints, and engage in shared decision making in a constructive, flexible, and positive manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
