Community Consultation Assistant

(35 hrs/week)

Working closely with the Community Foundation Team, the Community Consultation Assistant will:

help write and develop visual content for a report called Vital Signs® to be shared with the district in October. Using community data and content provided by the Vital Signs project team, the successful applicant will design a document that brings together statistics, stories and community perceptions that will help support the Red Deer & District Community Foundation take informed action to enhance the quality of life in Central Alberta. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Information gathering; collecting both verbal and electronic input from local agencies/organizations and project team 
  • Report writing and design 
  • Proper citing and referencing 
  • Development of media releases  
  • Development of a detailed media and communications schedule leading up to launch date 
  • Design (brand-aligning) project promotional material for the Foundation’s social media platforms including, but not limited to: LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter as well as the Foundation’s webpage 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Able to work independently  
  • Adheres to deadlines to ensure timely completion of multiple simultaneous tasks and projects  
  • Experience working within non-profit and public good sector, including professional associations, government agencies, Indigenous, philanthropic, and charitable organizations  
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence 
  • Ability to consider and balance diverse viewpoints, and engage in shared decision making in a constructive, flexible, and positive manner 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office applications 
  • Proficiency in the use of visual design applications (Canva)

This position is funded in part by the Government of Canada. The successful applicant will be:
a)
between the ages of 15-30
b) a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
c) legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations. 

(International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.)
